In Aldous Huxley's Brave New World, citizens emotions and individuality are conditioned from a young age. Embryos are grown outside of mothers' wombs and given specific chemicals and hormones to determine their predetermined classes: Alpha, Beta, Gamma, Delta, and Epsilon. Every citizen takes a drug called soma to feel happy and calm.
